ETP Tin Coated Plate Drawn Can And DRD Can Electrolytic Tinplating Food Cans
Tinned steel plate (commonly known as tinplate) is a steel product that can be stamped with a thin steel plate as the matrix, and is coated with tin on its surface and has a multi-layer protective film (layer). It has the characteristics of corrosion resistance, non-toxic, tasteless, surface gloss, light weight, high strength (relative to paper, wood, composite materials), easy to paint, easy to weld and process molding, and strong adaptability to environmental temperature. Therefore, more than 70% of the total output of tinned steel plates is used for food and beverage packaging. In addition, it is also the packaging and raw material shake of chemical and pharmaceutical, mechanical and electrical, hardware, telecommunications and other industries.
Tinplate finds extensive applications, particularly in food packaging where it offers excellent physical and chemical protection for contents. Our tinplate products cater to the needs of modern consumers, ensuring optimal packaging solutions for items like coffee, candy, and other perishables. For inquiries regarding our superior tinplate sheets, please reach out to us through the contact details available on our website. We are ready and eager to assist you.
The characteristics of the tin plate are largely determined by the characteristics of the tin.

4. Product Standard
ETP orders are placed with Baosteel in accordance with Q/BQB 450-2009 standard which uses in a non-equivalent to JIS G 3303:2008, DIN EN 10202:2001, EN 10203 standards.
TFS orders are placed with Baosteel in accordance with Q/BQB 455-2009 standard which uses in a non-equivalent to JIS G 3315:2008, DIN EN 10202:2001, EN 10203 standards.
5. Usage Precautions for ETP
Since ETP is coated with a soft metallic tin layer, care must be taken to avoid scratches from rough handling or vibrations during transportation. The paintability, printability, solderability, and mechanical properties of ETP tend to deteriorate over time after production, so it should be used as soon as possible after delivery. Despite its excellent corrosion resistance, ETP can rust in a humid environment, so it should be used promptly after unpacking. Tin can be dissolved by strong alkaline solutions; therefore, when using ETP for cans containing alkaline substances, the internal surface should be painted. Similarly, contents containing sulfur can cause the ETP surface to blacken, so the internal surface should be painted in such cases as well.
Joining
Several joining techniques may be used for tinplate, such as riveting, stapling and welding (resistance seam welding, in particular).
Lacquering and printing
Tinplate can be lacquered in sheets or in coils.
Strong adhesion can be achieved through organosols and acrylics, with other types of lacquer also applicable, such as epoxy-phenolics, polyesters, and others.
With anamorphic techniques, flat printing can be carried out before forming.
Firing temperature must not exceed 210℃.
There must be no or minimum oiling before lacquering in order to prevent wetting problems with the lacquer.
Electrolytic Tinplate (ETP) is widely used in various industries due to its excellent corrosion resistance, formability, and attractive appearance. Here are the key applications of ETP:
1. Food and Beverage Packaging:
- Cans: ETP is extensively used in the production of cans for packaging food and beverages. It provides an excellent barrier against contamination and preserves the quality of the contents.
- Lids and Closures: Tinplate is used to manufacture lids and closures for glass jars and bottles, ensuring a secure and airtight seal.
2. Aerosol Containers:
- ETP is used to produce aerosol containers for products such as deodorants, hairsprays, insecticides, and other pressurized contents. The tin coating protects the contents from reacting with the metal.
3. General Line Cans:
- Paints and Chemicals: Tinplate cans are used for packaging paints, varnishes, and industrial chemicals, offering protection against corrosion and contamination.
- Lubricants: ETP is also used for packaging lubricants and oils, preventing any reaction between the contents and the metal container.
4. Electronics and Electrical Applications:
- Batteries: Tinplate is used in the manufacture of battery casings, providing a robust and conductive material that is also resistant to corrosion.
- Electrical Components: ETP is used in the production of certain electrical components and housings due to its excellent conductivity and protective qualities.
5. Consumer Goods:
- Toys: ETP is often used in the manufacturing of metal toys, offering durability and an attractive finish.
- Stationery: Tinplate is used for making stationery items such as pencil cases and tin boxes, providing both protection and aesthetic appeal.
6. Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Products:
- Medical Packaging: ETP is used for packaging medical devices and pharmaceutical products, ensuring that the contents are protected from external contaminants and moisture.
- Bandage and Ointment Tins: Small tinplate containers are used for packaging bandages, ointments, and other healthcare products.
7. Decorative Items:
- Gift Tins: ETP is popular for making decorative gift tins for items such as chocolates, biscuits, and other confectioneries. The tinplate can be easily printed with attractive designs, making it suitable for premium packaging.
- Collectibles: Tinplate is used for creating collectible items and memorabilia due to its ability to retain prints and designs over time.
8. Automotive Industry:
- Components:ETP is used for certain automotive components, especially those that require a combination of strength, formability, and corrosion resistance.
- Accessories: Tinplate is used for manufacturing various automotive accessories and spare parts.
9. Construction and Building Materials:
- Roofing and Cladding: ETP is sometimes used in the construction industry for roofing and cladding applications due to its durability and resistance to weathering.
In summary, Electrolytic Tinplate is a versatile material with a wide range of applications across multiple industries, primarily due to its protective qualities, formability, and ability to be easily printed and decorated.
