Overview
Introduction:
55% Aluzinc steel coils, also known as Galvalume or Aluminium-Zinc alloy coated steel, are a type of steel coated with an alloy comprising approximately 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicon. This unique coating provides a combination of the excellent corrosion resistance of aluminum and the galvanic protection of zinc, making it a superior material for various applications.
Composition:
- Aluminum (55%): Provides exceptional corrosion resistance by forming a protective layer of aluminum oxide.
- Zinc (43.4%): Offers sacrificial protection, similar to traditional galvanized steel, protecting the steel substrate by corroding preferentially.
- Silicon (1.6%): Enhances adhesion of the coating to the steel and helps maintain the integrity of the alloy layer during fabrication.
1. Indoor Storage:
- Warehouse Environment: Store the coils in a dry, well-ventilated warehouse to protect them from rain and high humidity.
- Elevation: Place the coils on elevated platforms or pallets to keep them off the ground and prevent contact with water.
- Temperature and Humidity Control: Maintain a stable temperature and humidity level inside the warehouse to prevent condensation on the coils.
2. Outdoor Storage:
- Covering: If indoor storage is not possible, cover the coils with waterproof tarpaulins or plastic sheets. Ensure that the covers are tightly secured to prevent water ingress.
- Proper Ventilation: Leave some space for air circulation under the covers to avoid moisture buildup and condensation.
- Inclination: Store the coils at a slight incline to facilitate water runoff and prevent pooling on the surface.
3. Packing:
- Sealed Packaging: Use moisture-resistant packaging materials to wrap the coils tightly. Consider vacuum-sealing or using desiccants inside the packaging to absorb any residual moisture.
- Edge Protection: Apply edge protectors to the coils to prevent damage during handling and storage.
Precautions
1. Inspection:
- Regular Checks: Periodically inspect the coils for signs of moisture or water damage. Pay special attention to edges and seams where water can seep in.
- Remove Moisture: If any moisture is detected, dry the affected areas immediately and reapply protective covers or packaging as needed.
2. Handling:
- Avoid Wet Surfaces: Ensure that forklifts, cranes, and other handling equipment are dry and clean before use to prevent transferring moisture to the coils.
- Careful Movement: Handle the coils gently to avoid scratching or damaging the protective coating, which can expose the underlying steel to corrosion.
3. Storage Area Maintenance:
- Cleanliness: Keep the storage area clean and free of debris that could trap moisture or damage the coils.
- Drainage: Ensure proper drainage systems are in place around the storage area to prevent water accumulation.
1. Base Material:
- Substrate:
Aluzinc steel serves as the base material for stone-coated metal roof tiles. Its strength and formability make it ideal for creating durable and lightweight roofing panels.
2. Stone Coating:
- Adhesion:
The coating process involves applying a layer of adhesive to the Aluzinc steel substrate, followed by embedding stone granules. The excellent adhesion properties of Aluzinc steel ensure that the stone granules remain securely attached, even under harsh weather conditions.
3. Protective Layers:
- Multi-layer Protection:
After the stone granules are applied, a clear acrylic overcoat is added to protect the stones and enhance UV resistance. The combination of Aluzinc steel and multiple protective layers provides a robust barrier against environmental damage.
4. Versatile Designs:
- Aesthetic Options:
Stone-coated metal roof tiles come in various styles, colours, and textures, allowing homeowners and builders to choose designs that complement different architectural styles. Aluzinc steel’s ability to hold coatings well enhances the variety and vibrancy of these options.
